While our chefs are busy in the back of the kitchen putting finishing touches on the vendor menu for this year's Burger Fest, Sep 18-20 at Wangjing Walk presented by the Beijinger and JSS 锦食送, we just finished cooking up a delicious four-course meal for your ears. Across all three days of the fest, we have a dynamic lineup of bands to satiate your hunger for savory rhythms and sweet grooves, the perfect way to help you digest, keep moving, and occasionally distract you from the unfettered amounts of sizzling meat and veggie options on hand. With a musical smorgasbord such as this, it’s hard to tell what’s going to fill up faster, your stomach or dancing shoes.
Backed by a ten-piece band, Stevie Mac & the Mac Daddies are both a visual spectacle and aural feast. With a sound that deftly fuses classic lounge with modern pop and rock, the band is a regular fixture at the city’s hottest clubs and parties, consistently packing houses and selling out shows. When it comes to walking the walk and talking the talk, Stevie Mac & the Mac Daddies does both in spades, complete with a fresh suit, to boot.
If you couldn’t get enough of the Latin American flare that blared across the Hot & Spicy Festival, then La Clave is the act you’ll doubtlessly want to catch at the Burger Festival. For more than three years they’ve been honing their sound across China and delighting audiences with a unique repertoire of salsa, merengue, Cumbia, reggaeton, and Brazilian tunes. Summer may be coming to a close, but La Clave’s music is the perfect escape to sunny Caribbean beaches and sizzling South American street festivals.
When it comes to big things in small packages, The Real Deal definitely fits the bill. The band may only have three players, but their sound is worthy of a stadium, possessing a depth and energy that propels crowds late into the night. Since 2015, The Real Deal has been belting out rock and pop standards, with a healthy dose of soul, blues, and reggae thrown in for good measure. Here at the Beijinger, we try to keep our festivals full of surprises, and with a set by The Real Deal on the books, our job is made that much easier.
